PCT Applications
The PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) is administered by
WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization).
The PCT has more than 180 member states (countries).
A good summary of the types
of patent protection available in the member states is available online.
Two letter country codes are also listed
on-line. PCT applications are examined, and PCT issues a search report / written opinion summarizing their findings. PCT filing offers numerous benefits, but most applicants use the PCT merely to extend the deadlines for foreign filing.
