Software is patentable in Korea provided it is claimed as a product with specified functions, or method with specified steps. Software is also patentable in Korea to the extent that it claims hardware or apparatus limitations, or recites a media upon which the software is recorded. Computer software is not patentable as a program or a data structure per se.

Business methods are patentable in Korea provided they are claimed as being implemented in hardware. Thus, Korea allows claims directed to for business automation devices, but excludes patents for pure business methods.
